I guess you could say it’s a bit of a one hit wonder that time almost forgot, but the retro gaming community won’t let classics die so easily! If the developers had stayed together and kept making sequels, then the game might have picked up more traction. The first of two games in a row that should have received more success back in the day, The Thing has thankfully developed a die-hard audience since its release back in 2002.įans think of it warmly now… even though it’s filled with gruesome creatures. The environment you’re in plays a huge factor too, and of course NPCs can be turned by The Thing too, so it’s also super hard to tel whether they’re really trying to help you or destroy you. Depending on how characters feel and your actions towards them will determine if they help you with the horrific things to come. One thing that I love about this game is the fear/trust system that’s integral to all of the NPCs. It’s a survival/horror title and a sequel to John Carpenters’s The Thing from Another World.īasically, if you don’t like scary stuff, then scroll past to 48!
